DUBAI LIFESTYLE: A BRIEF INTRO


Dubai has a huge expatriate population who are out to make the most of their totally tax free lifestyle in Dubai which is a great city of opportunity. There are many restaurants and night clubs providing superb entertainment. There are Middle Eastern, Indian and Asian nightclubs with their singers and dancers. Additionally, a lot of visiting touring entertainers such as music groups, ballets, theater, circus etc perform at different occasions in Dubai.

There are plenty of food zones in Dubai. While international cuisine is the order of the day, one can find a wide variety of cuisines to choose from. Arabic food is very popular in Dubai. In addition, we can find a lot of international food chains here like Pizza Hut, KFC, Applebee’s, TGIF, McDonalds, Hard Rock CafĂ© etc. In addition, Asian cuisines have also found favor with the people here. The dining spots range from small cafes to waterfront cafes, ultra fine dining restaurants serving a wide range of cuisines. The cosmopolitan nature of Dubai’s population is reflected in its food too.

The nightlife in Dubai is very lively and exhilarating. There are many trendy nightclubs around the city and people have a whole range to choose from. The city is well-endowed with cocktail bars, wine bars, themed pubs and bars, British or Irish pubs etc. Some night clubs are theme based and some are regional or country-specific.
Dubai is a perfect blend of modern skyscrapers alongside traditional architecture. Dubai's many and varied attractions provide visitors with a unique experience. There is plenty to choose, from beaches to golf courses, shopping malls, night clubs, pubs, multiplexes, entertainment zones etc.

Dubai’s activities and attractions

Dubai offers many different attractions to suit all age groups. If we were to look at the various sports events throughout the year, there are the Desert Classic Golf Tournament, Dubai Desert Safari Challenge, Rugby 7s, ATP and WTA Tennis championships and the Dubai World Cup which is considered to be the richest horse race in the world today. If your interest is in water related activities, then you can rent a ‘dhow’- a sail boat or rent an ‘abra’- a water taxi and engage in a private tour of Dubai’s coastline. One can also rent a jet ski from any beach facing hotel or from near Garhoud Bridge and watch sun set near the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. Jet skis can also be rented at many of the beachfront hotels.

If you are seeking to walk, there is the Creekside Park with neat landscaped gardens and foliage. Or one can walk along the Corniche promenade which is on the Deira side of the Creek towards Maktoum Bridge. Some of the city's parks are Jumeirah Beach Park, Dubai Creekside Park, Mushrif Park, Al Mamzar Park and Safa Park.

Dubai Shopping Festival

Dubai Shopping Festival is considered as one of the biggest, most celebrated, world renowned and sought after annual shopping events in the world for a good few years now. It is an event that is spread over a couple of months, filled with bargains, games, lucky draws, shows, promotions and sales at amazingly low prices. During this event, there is an exhibition called Global Village where there are stalls from different nations selling handicrafts, clothes, food etc. This festival has gained great fame and draws large number of tourists to Dubai from around the world.

Historical Destinations

Bastakiya
This area is basically reminiscent of old Dubai. The area is filled with narrow lanes and conventional courtyard houses with cooling wind towers.

Dubai Museum
This museum is located at Al Fahidi Fort. This was built in 1787 and has served as a palace, garrison and prison. In 1970, it was converted to a novel and creatively conceptualized museum depicting Dubai’s history.

Dubai Mosques
Jumeirah Mosque is one of the biggest and beautiful mosques in Dubai and is resplendent of modern Islamic architecture. The mosque is built of stone in medieval Fatimid tradition with twin minarets and a majestic dome. The Grand Mosque is another beautiful mosque with the tallest minaret at 70 meters. The Grand Mosque has 45 small domes and 9 large domes.

Heritage & Dining Villages
You can go back in time and experience some of Dubai's heritage. The heritage village located near the mouth of the Creek has potters and weavers working on their pearling crafts, along with dancers, Arabic restaurants and many other traditional pursuits.

Dubai Zoo
The zoo in Jumeirah is home to a variety of animals alongside native Arabian animals, which include the Arabian Wolf. Also there is a huge aviary.

Wonderland
This is a must-see amusement and water park for kids. It has a host of water rides, speed slides, a roller coaster etc. In addition, there is a water mist show and water cinema which is an exciting experience.

Magic Planet
This is a splendid and exciting children's recreation zone. It is filled with fairground rides, bowling alleys, electronic games and a mini golf course.

Encounter Zone
It is another kids’ zone, and is situated in Wafi Shopping Mall. Encounter Zone offers many rides, games, the Crystal Maze horror chamber, simulated rides etc.

Wild Wadi
Situated next to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel is the 12-acre water park filled with exciting rides, wave pools and a host of water fun for all ages. The park is set in an ancient theme of Arabia.

Dubai’s lifestyle is driven by its rather strong and rich economy. Many factors like safety, adaptability, prices etc are making Dubai a favorite tourist destination and every year more and more are thronging to visit this beautiful city.
